Until recently Red Hill Park was just a barren lot of land that, over the years,
became an unofficial dog park. With few amenities it was still a great place for
exercising and socializing (dogs and humans!). Following years of discussions
among school districts, city agencies and community members, in July 2008 the area was
vacated to create the multi-use Red Hill Community Park. Phase 1 construction is now
complete – and Red Hill Dog Park has reopened and is better than ever!
With the support of many generous local businesses and the sale of
Honor Bricks – the
park re-opened on May 9, 2009 with a
fan fare of excitement and happy faces!
While initial fundraising efforts brought in enough to outfit the park with gates,
fences, trees, benches, tables and water – we continue working to raise funds to
complete Phase 2! Phase 2 will include a walking path around the park – which is
especially important for mobility challenged humans and dogs – as well as irrigation
to keep the ground moist and dust at a minimum. Additional funding needed to
complete Phase 2 is $50,000.
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Red Hill Dog Park. 100% of all funds received will be used solely to complete Phase 2 of the Park, and finishing off construction of this meeting place for dogs and humans – pups to seniors!
Tax deductible donations can be made in a variety of ways including monetary
contributions to the Red Hill Dog Park, purchase of Honor Bricks, or direct sponsorship of
amenities.
