Your new park, including a walking track, fenced dog park area,
sports field for soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse and other amenities
is projected to be completed by December 2008. The fund raising group is committed
to completing both phases of the park and we are appealing to the community for help.
Now that you know that the park will be a reality, please help get the trees planted, the dog park finished, the seating completed and all of the rest done. One goal is to help make the new dog park area an inviting place for people and dogs to socialize. The best people to help us fund the amenities to further this goal are the people who will be using this area most frequently. Please click here to send an email to the San Anselmo Recreation Department if you would like to volunteer or donate. You can also volunteer or donate by calling the San Anselmo Recreation Department at (415) 258-4640. The next meeting of the JPA Board of Directors will be on Monday, October 27th in the San Anselmo Town Council chambers at 7:30 PM. The public is welcome. |

| Complete Phase II. |
Phase I will create the infrastructure needed to support the park. This
includes the fenced dog park area, the fenced field, walking track, parking
spaces, access paths and other critical components.
But we want to make certain that we complete Phase II of the park. This Phase included some of the landscaping, ammenities such as park benches and other features that will serve the entire community. For all of our supporters who were reluctant to contribute because you were worried about the park actually being built... now is the time to contribute. Please click on the Donate tab above or contact the San Anselmo Parks Department by clicking on the Contact Us tab. Thank you for your support! |
Ross Valley residents are creating a new park that will be their legacy for future generations. Now is the time to leverage the commitment of public agencies, foundation funding, community support, and landowner approval to develop one of Marin County’s most precious resources. When we factor in the increased demands of the local recreation department and the growing recreational needs of children, youth, adults, seniors, and disabled residents, it becomes apparent that Red Hill Community Park will prove a valuable asset to the entire Ross Valley.
The new park will include a field that will be a shared resource for our families for playing soccer, baseball, softball and lacrosse. This field will also be the new Drake High School home field for soccer and lacrosse.
Red Hill Community Park will also have a full walking track, an officially sanctioned dog park, a multi-use court and much more.
Thank you for all of your support. The goal is to have the kids playing in the new park by winter of 2008!
In July of 2007 Red Hill Park was awarded a grant of $325,000 from the Marin Coummunity Foundation (see www.marincf.org, the Marin Community Foundation Web site, for more information). We are extremely grateful for the vision shown in helping to build the first new community park in the Ross Valley in decades. The park is designed to meet the diverse needs of our citizens, providing a beautiful area for recreation for our children and active adults, a safe walking track and a new, fully contained dog park.
The County of Marin contributed an additional $100,000 of funding for the park as well, bringing its total support of Red Hill Community Park to $350,000. Thanks to County Supervisor Hal Brown for his continued leadership and support of projects like Red Hill Community Park that help make Marin County a wonderful place to live.
Through a combination of government, institutional and individual support, almost
$2.1 million of the total $2.6 million budget has been raised. While this has been
a phenomenal community effort, the rest is up to us -- the families who will benefit
most from this new Park.
We invite you to help complete Red Hill Community Park by purchasing a $250 or $500
personalized walkway tile, which will per permanently displayed at the park. Or join
our Legacy Circle with a donation of $1,000 or more.
There are additional opportunities to help by purchasing fence posts with enscribed
company or family names for $2,000 for 10 inch diameter posts and $1,500 for 8 inch diameter
posts as well as for retaining wall blocks for $10 a block.
Please take a few minutes to click on the Donate tab and then print, fill out and

The property that will become Red Hill Park is owned by the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) and is located behind Red Hill Shopping Center between Shaw Drive and Sunny Hills Drive. Roughly 5 acres of what was a school playing field currently has 2 decrepit tennis courts and an unimproved, unmaintained area that has been used as an unofficial “dog park.”
Red Hill Park will be a very valuable addition to the Ross Valley’s recreational landscape since it will include:
You can help make Red Hill Park a reality in two ways: First, you can provide financial support by clicking here for a downloadable version of a pledge card. Your generous contribution is tax deductible, and can be spread over the 2008/2009 tax years. Second, if you are a contractor who might be willing to manage a specific element of the construction (retaining wall, electrical, fencing, paving, etc.), please indicate that on the pledge card on the Donor tab.
Please join us in making this dream come true for our children and our community. Take this opportunity to make a gift that will pay dividends for many, many years to come.
A special thanks to the hundreds of our neighbors who have already contributed to Red Hill Community Park. You can see a complete list of the donors by clicking on the Donate tab above.
